Monday / Tuesday, 14 & 15 April 2025 - Erikousa
We spent these days waiting for the weather to be good enough to continue. Monday was windy and Tuesday it was positively stormy. When we went for walks on the island (nothing was open), there were places along the jetty that the waves were splashing over the top, and so we had to judge our moves to be between the waves.
On Tuesday the ferry came in twice and had to reverse up to the quay right next to us. The first time the captain showed enormous skill to keep away from us, but as a result was right at the end of the jetty and still exposed to the sea. The cars coming off had to negotiate a very sharp turn from a ferry that was moving up and down and from side to side. Before the second visit, someone came and asked us to move forward a few metres to give the ferry more room, which of course we did. Even in the more sheltered position where we were, it was a complicated process, and we were glad of the assistance of a charming Danish guy from the next boat. We ended up with more lines than usual holding us to the quay and extra fenders out because we were still bouncing around.
