Thursday 17 April 2025 - Plateria

We were again concerned about the weather today, springtime can bring great variations, and we wanted to be away early.  I was up and off to get our completed paperwork as soon as the Customs Office was open, at 8:30 (or thereabouts, maybe 9:00?). Today it all went well, and by 9:30 I was back to the boat with the necessary Transit Log, duly endorsed by the Port Police. This was faster than I had dared to hope.  Then the dinghy was stowed on deck, and we were able to head off to Plateria, one of our favourite stops in this part of Greece.

The wind was force 5, which led to a proper sailing experience. At times it felt as if we were making very slow process towards our target, but as the day wore on the wind dropped a little, and the waves coming towards us reduced as well, so our rate of progress improved.

On arrival in Plateria, we were greeted by the harbour master, Babis, who now seems like an old friend.  He helped with our lines, and had arranged for a fuel delivery.  The truck was waiting on the dock for us, and as soon as our lines were secured, the delivery started.  We  had originally thought that fuel from a truck like this would demand a premium price, but our experience is that it is considerably cheaper than the prices being charged at the marina fuel docks.

In the evening we went to a family run fish restaurant, for a delicious meal.  I think we were served 3 different types of fish. Wonderful.
