Wednesday / Thursday - 2 & 3 April 2025 - Bari
And so we start our voyages again. After a bit of difficulty, dealing with codes, we got access to the apartment we had booked. It was perfectly close to the boatyard and our favourite cafe in Bari. Proximity was a good thing because we had been
told that the boat launch would be at about 11:00, but we got a message at 8:00,
saying that the boat was already on the move.
We ate a rapid breakfast at sed café, wonderful cornettos and coffee, then rushed to the boatyard. The boat was
gleaming after its winter clean and polish. As is often the case it became “hurry
up and wait”. Once the boat is lifted into the slings from the hoist, the last
bits of the antifouling have to be finished, in the places where the
boat was supported in its cradle, and are therefore inaccessible. It was about
11:00 before it was actually placed into the water, but this gave us plenty of
time to have the final checks that are needed to be in
the water and then move to our berth. This was all in glorious sunshine under a clear blue sky.
After some more devine Italian food for lunch, we spent the afternoon on some
cleaning inside and flushing the fresh water tanks. They have to be left
overnight before they can be used.
