6 May 2025 - Lefki Bay, Elafonisos

This was a day when we got to version 6 of Plan G. Our initial intention was to round the end of the first of the fingers at the southern end of the Peloponnesus, and overnight at a small inlet where we have stayed before. The weather was completely benign while we motored the first 30+ miles and the protection that was offered at the anchorage seemed adequate.

As we reached the point to turn back north again, we decided to recheck the weather and a few things had changed quite significantly.  The four forecasts that we review were not in agreement (as usual) but had sufficient similarities for the proposed anchorage to be ditched.

The next idea was to proceed further east and stay on the east side of the island of Kithera.  Further weather reviews then ruled this out as well and eventually we decided to proceed to the anchorage at Elafonisos Island. We visited this beautiful spot last year, but could not go to the same bay, as it was exposed to the strong winds, so we found a spot in company with 3 other yachts in a nearby protected bay.

It was a long day, 11.5 hours on the move and 75 miles. We were ready for a quick meal and then an early night.

Distance today -        75 miles

Distance this year - 606 miles
