9 October 2025 - Vieste
"What a difference a day makes,
24 hours..."
The weather was calm today, so the access fob was returned to the marinaro, who then gave us back our boat papers, and after a slightly longer than expected stop for fuel, Equinox exited the marina. Today was to take us along the southern side of the "spur" of Italy. It was motoring all the way.
There are fishing buoys to be avoided near to the harbour at Manfredonia, but these were cleared by the time we were passing the large commercial port installation. This is a long pier that protrudes about a mile and a half out to sea. As we approached yesterday, the mist covered the land behind it and we could only see the end. It looked like a floating platform until the land behind was visible.

The wind had increased by the time we arrived and the docking process was less than easy in a stiff crosswind. The marinaro was working to a different plan to us and didn't speak any English, but we overcame the challenges and were soon safely moored.

We had been deferring having gelato until we arrived back in Italy, and had not had the right opportunity to try one until now, but this was corrected tonight. TripAdviser and Google both give ratings for all types of establishment, including gelataria, so we chose the highest ranked one within reach of the harbour and enjoyed a stroll to and from after dinner.
Distance today - 27 miles
